How long does wine last after it has been opened?
There is no definite length of time. On average, an open bottle of wine can last up to 5 days, depending on the way the wine was made and the way you treat it after opening.
Red wines generally last longer than white wines. After opening, red wines can last up to five days while white wine lasts much closer to three days. Sparkling wines on the other hand lasts the shortest and should be consumed within one to three days.
Once wine has been opened and is kept for too long, the alcohol can oxidize making it lose it’s flavours or acetic acid bacteria can consume the alcohol in the wine and causes the wine to have a sharp smell.
